Comparison methodology

Trace a fact. See the limitation. Decide what to check next.

Our launch dataset separates brands, legal insurers, products, distribution and actual partner access. A small verified comparison is more useful than a large fictional one.

What is included

The provider comparison covers current New Zealand product pages where primary documentation supports a useful launch record. Inclusion is not an endorsement. It does not mean the product is accessible through an eventual adviser partner. “Shown as available” refers only to the official page viewed on the stated verification date.

How facts are selected

We prioritise current official New Zealand policy wording and insurer documentation, then regulators, legislation, ACC, Inland Revenue and other authorities. Independent research may add context, but competitor pages are not treated as primary evidence for policy benefits.

Every material product record stores the consumer-facing brand, legal insurer or underwriter, current product, distribution route, new-business status, factual fields, qualifications, source identifiers and verification date. Where a public source does not state a fact, the comparison says it is not recorded or needs checking.

Ordering and “best” claims

The default provider order is alphabetical by consumer brand. A user may choose a clearly labelled factual sort. We do not assign a best-overall score, rank by commission, or treat the cheapest first-year premium as universally preferable. Product suitability depends on needs, definitions, exclusions, affordability over time and underwriting.

Pricing

We do not publish an invented average or simulate an insurer quote. Comparable examples require real, permission-compatible quote schedules with matching assumptions, product, charges and date. Until those are obtained, the cost guide explains price drivers without pretending to know a visitor’s premium.

Panel and commercial separation

Website information coverage and adviser-panel access are different fields. Every current provider record says “Not confirmed” for partner-panel access because no operating agreement has been supplied. A future referral service cannot silently substitute a different recipient.

Review cycle

Material sources are scheduled for review at least every six months and before a material claim is first published. A missing or changed source flags affected claims for review; it does not automatically rewrite or publish financial content. Corrections preserve an audit trail.

Limitations

This dataset is not the whole market and may not include every benefit, definition, exclusion, underwriting rule, premium option or legacy policy. Policy wording and individual terms control. Factual comparison is general information, not personalised advice.
